Hello Everyone…..  We have been sitting and simmering for the last few weeks, and we have decided to tweek our site, and content.

First of all we want to thank all of you who check FISHBOWLJAX on a daily basis.  We want to become a daily site that has a different point of view.  Let me change that. We WILL become a site with a different point of view.  We would really like to get our FACEBOOK and TWITTER pages a bit more active as well.  (of course click either word to go to that page and join us)

We will continue to bring you the Duval gossip, but we are opening up the content to you the reader.   Please feel free to email us questions, comments, and we will do our best to answer them.

Of course this is a poor man’s version of the old column “Ask Vic”.  Sure they have the new guy John O doing the “O-Zone”, but it’s just not he same as “Ask Vic”…….

If you are a FISHBOWLJAX newbie, just know that we are nowhere near politically correct.  Some may get offended, but hey….  We speak the truth!!

Our email is  and once again you can also join us on FACEBOOK or TWITTER….   Plus they are wide open 24/7 and 365 days of the year.

EHS is now ESJ

Episcopal High School of Jacksonville announced this week that it’s dropping the “high” from its name.
It will now be known as Episcopal School of Jacksonville, or ESJ. The school had about 860 students, making it one of the largest private schools in Northeast Florida.

I hear that parents don’t have to change out their children’s uniform because the logo is basically going to look the same…

Duval’s own……..

Chipper Jones, Dee Brown, Leroy Butler, Bob Hayes, Edgar Bennett, Jabar Gaffney, Sam Cowart, Tim Tebow…….  These are just a few of a long line of local NBA, NFL, Professional Baseball players and Olympians.

I actually never even thought about the NHL, but a few weeks ago 19 year old Brian Ferlin became the first player from Jacksonville drafted into the NHL.

The great thing is he was drafted by the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins in the 4th round.

Can you imagine people screaming DUVALLLLLLLLLLLLLL at a hockey game?

2 Day Countdown………

Well it’s about 2 more days until Mayor-elect Alvin Brown is sworn into office, and we hear that there maybe some “Big-wigs” in town for the occasion…

Word has it that former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Colin Powell maybe swinging thru.

Don’t forget that Mayor Brown was an employee of Clinton when he was ruling the White House.

Also I heard some grumblings today that Brown’s Inauguration events and celebration aren’t really geared toward “The People”

I guess everyone can’t make it to the convention center…..

What happened to the big event open to everybody planned for Metro Park?????    hmmmmmm

Playing Poker at Regency

Since the Jacksonville Kennel Club closed their location on McDuff Avenue (Which has now become a school) they are looking to open a poker room right across from Regency Square Mall..

This may pump some well needed traffic into the Regency area, and it will bring about 200 jobs with it.  Regency Mall is just about on it’s last leg… When a mall basically sells nothing but tennis shoes, Gold and baby clothes, it’s at the END.

Garden Ridge has already started marking stuff down, and the store should be totally closed in August.

Weekend FlashMOB!!!!!!!!

Pretty good weekend…..

Great Jax Sharks game… Hung out with some former Jaguar players and our official FishbowlJax DJ Chill Will at the Aloft hotel.  The crown was a little thin, but we’re going to do it again this Saturday after the next Sharks game.

Also the Friendship Fountain re-opened this weekend, and believe it or not that was a Flash Mob!!!!   I just love that commercial where the guy didn’t get the text about the flash mob and started all by himself..

Well it seemed pretty neat…  I guess the music should’ve been louder to give it that SNAP & POP of a flash mob, or maybe they just used the wrong song. (I’ll Be There For You – Theme from “FRIENDS” television show)

Anyway, we applaud everyone who took part because you wouldn’t see any of the Fishbowljax staff out there…

We almost forgot when the Jaguars D-Line did their Flash Mob for McDonald’s…….   This is awesome!!!!!

It’s Friday…..   and Smokey…    I’m not talking about Smokey the Bear or Chris Tucker’s character in the stoner movie Friday.

The Florida Division of Forestry reports that about 200,000 acres are actively burning in the 50 mile radius around Jacksonville.

The source of the smoke that we are seeing today are the fires in St. Johns, Flagler, Volusia counties and the Gainesville area.

Be careful and stay inside if you suffer from respiratory conditions like asthma.
