You may not know who this guy is….   Well, this is Abel Harding, the spokesman for Mayor Alvin Brown and former columnist for the Times -Union

Well it seems that old Abel had a real good time in Gainesville at the Gator game Saturday night.  On his way home he was arrested for DUI in Hampton, FL (which is a small one-red light town on highway 301).

Abel has been placed on administrative leave from City Hall.

Last month Alvin Brown made history by becoming the 1st African American Mayor on Jacksonville, Florida…

Today he named his transition team, and I must say he is surrounding himself with some good people.  Of course I knew Audrey Moran was going to be in the mix, but Mike Weinstein, Nat Glover, Matt Carlucci, Bob Rhodes……

This city may just be on the verge of something……     Here is the complete list:

Named as strategic co-chairs:
Peter Rummell (A prominent Republican who surprised many by supporting Brown, a Democrat)
Rev. Henry Rhim (Brown’s pastor)
Delores Weaver

Audrey Moran (Former mayoral candidate)
Tony Hill (State Senator)

Other appointments include:

Boards and Commissions
Charles Clarkson and Robert Spohrer

Downtown Revitalization
Chester Aikens and Bob Rhodes

Education and Children
Betty Burney and Kerry Romsberg

Public Health and Safety
Nat Glover and Nancy Soderberg

Adam Herbert and Wally Lee

Economic Development
Hugh Greene and State Rep. Mia Jones

Budget and Finance:
Matt Carlucci and Charles Appleby

Workforce Development:
Steve Wallace and the Rev. James Sampson

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority board unanimously agreed to help Greyhound build a new bus station next to the Prime Osborn Convention Center yesterday.

Lord knows that old Greyhound station on Bay Street is the worse, and has the strongest smell of urine we have ever come across!!!

It seems the Prime Osborn is set to go back to it’s original form as a train station in the near future…..   Not only a train station but a Transportation hub in downtown with bus service, Amtrak, commuter and high speed rail and retail stores.   Of course you’re going to need a JSO substation.

Will this be Jacksonville’s version of Penn Station or Union Station in DC?  At this point anything will help downtown, but we still are a few years off from this project coming to life.

Not The Same Person!!!!!!

After a few conversations this week….  We felt the need to post this:

No matter what people tell you…….  All Black People Don’t Look Alike!!!!!

The guy on the left ran for mayor in 2003… (Nat Glover)  The guy on the right is PRESENTLY running for mayor….. (Alvin Brown).

Brown is much better speaker, and depending on how he does in the upcoming debates, he just may pull off an upset…
